We took a tour of Paramount Studios, the first studio we visited. It was very quiet because the offices were closed for a federal holiday. The most interesting fact I learned here was that the courtyard set up their production offices the same way Henry Ford did with the assembly line. The lot itself is beautiful and somewhat shocking when you start to recognize the places that your favorite movies are filmed.
We stopped at the LA Times to tour and wow does your voice echo in that place. It's 100 times quieter than I expected it to be. Have you ever seen the movie spotlight, where everyone is running all over the place connecting with each other trying to get the latest info on what's going on? It's nothing like that. While we were on that tour, our tour guide passed around a book with every sports article covering about four decades. I ended up being able to keep that book.
Around the second week of the summer I had not yet landed an internship. While actively looking for a job, I wasn't going to sit at home and allow myself to miss out on exploring one of the coolest cities in the U.S. Emma, my roommate, also didn't have a job yet. We decided to team up and see exactly what the city of Los Angeles had to offer.
My internship is with Pure Talent Management. Pure Talent Management is a boutique styled film company. The company manages around 60+ actors, actresses, and models. The ages of these clients range from 9mo.- 50 years old. Katrina Herlong is the CEO of this company. Working with Katrina has been nothing but enjoyable. It is just she and I in the office side of her home everyday and because of that we've gotten very close. She's really elaborated on the way Breakdowns, the main website we use for casting calls, is set up. To help me better understand our clients I created a PowerPoint slide for each of them including a screenshot of their profile and if they are in town or not. I printed this off and walked through it with her who was here and could be submitted and who wasn't.
While being out here, my mom had the opportunity to fly out here and visit me. While she was here we went on a tour at Warner Brothers where she got to display just how much of a kid at heart she really is.
I'd have to say the highlight of my summer being out here was the one day I decided to go to Barnes & Noble at The Grove to get a jumpstart on my assignments for class. While I was there a line started to form around the store. I asked one of the employees if there was a book signing today and she said yes. You'll never guess who it was!!
