I was extremely lucky to be placed at Caviar Content for my internship. I had gotten the opportunity to intern on their second Indie feature film that was produced in the United States. While on set, my first job was to do a lockup, which is not an easy task especially when people do not seem to care when a person my size tries to be like Gandalf standing before the Balrog telling them that they "shall not pass”. But one of the highlights was that since I was the same height as the main actress I got to be her personal stand-in, which in my opinion was pretty awesome. I learned so many great lessons while working on this production that I feel would benefit the next person who is in my shoes and so here you go:
- If you ever find that you have to wear a walkie, DO NOT wear leggings. Your pants will fall down multiple times.
- Show up 30 minutes early, even if you don’t think they notice, they do, trust me.
- If asked a question never say “I don’t know” and end it there. Figure out the answer to the question ASAP.
- Bring snacks because you never know if and when food will be provided and you never know how long your work day might be.
- Don’t wait a week to ask where the bathroom is located. I know that seems like common sense but when you are constantly being asked to be on a lockup there is not much time for you to look around and get your bearings. Also it’s hard to stay on your game if all you think about is having to go to the bathroom.
